Norton Barristers

Our Client-Centered Approach

Philip Norton is the principal lawyer at Norton Barristers.  Before being called to the Bar, he served as a law clerk to Judges of the Superior Court of Justice.  Throughout his career, Mr. Norton has been lead counsel on numerous high profile cases and has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.  He is a proud member of the Ontario Inmate Appeal Duty Counsel Program for the Court of Appeal.  Funded by the Ontario Law Foundation, the program selects only experienced criminal appellate counsel to provide legal assistance to unrepresented persons at the highest appeal court in the province.  Additionally, Mr. Norton assists lawyers and health care professionals at various levels of court and disciplinary tribunals.

Although the vast majority of Mr. Norton's clients are professionals who have no prior involvement with the justice system, a small portion of his firm's practice is devoted to accepting legal aid certificates, working on behalf of non-profit organizations, and pro bono work.

Mr. Norton's approach is to ensure complete discretion and provide each and every client with personalized attention.  His pattern of success is the result of his uncompromising dedication to advocate on behalf of his clients whose lives and reputations would have been forever and irreparably damaged by a criminal conviction or the loss of their professional licence.
